Kim Alan Winslow: Associate Artistic Director, Puppet Designer, Performer After completing the advanced training program at the American Conservatory Theater, Mr. Winslow joined the Ragabash Theater in 1982 as a puppeteer and actor. Later he became an associate director of the company and toured colleges and museums with grants from the NEA, NYSCA, and the Jim Henson Foundation. In 1984-85 he made two ten-week tours of Eskimo villages in Alaska with an original one-man show sponsored by the Alaska State Council on the Arts. In 1991 he toured refugee camps of families from Bosnia in the Czech Republic. This was made possible by a grant from the Vaclav Havel Foundation. In 1991 he toured Japan with Pandemonium and the Dragon Fly, participating in the Osaka World Performers Festival and appearing on national television. In 1992-93 he toured Japan with the Takiuma Circus. Fifteen years ago Mr. Winslow was a founding member of the Big Apple Circus Clown Care Unit®, which brings classical circus to the bedsides of hospitalized children, their parents and caregivers, three days each week, fifty weeks per year, in the guise of professional clowns dressed as doctors. As "Dr. Loon," he has gone on to lead the way in creating CCU programs in Boston and Washington DC as well as consulting in the creation of similar programs in Paris, Frankfurt, and Sao Paulo. In addition to his work with hospitalized children, Mr. Winslow performs in the ring for circus benefits outside it for special events. In 1989, through the Big Apple Circus, he created a clown program at Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Gang Camp, a summer camp for children with blood disorder diseases.
